Yearning—Gentle and Lowly, Part 7 (book chapters 17 & 18)

Yearning—Gentle and Lowly, Part 7 (book chapters 17 & 18)

We got an unexpected call from some old and cherished friends a couple of nights ago. It wasn’t good news. They were calling to enlist us in praying for an adult son—whom we’ve known since his birth—floundering in deep and turbulent waters by his own hand, putting himself, his young family, and his livelihood in peril.

The only apt way to describe their innermost selves in that moment wasn’t frustration or anger...it was yearning. Yearning for restoration, for healing, and for the good of their darling son.

Have you ever experienced something like that for a daughter or son? Many have, including Almighty God.

Yearning of his innermost self for his darling son is the language Jeremiah 31:20 uses to describe God’s heart for his own, floundering in deep and turbulent waters by their own hand. Not frustration. Not anger. Yearning. Yearning for restoration, yearning for healing, and yearning for his darling’s good.

That’s God’s heart for his own.

See you Sunday.

Children’s Formation Volunteers

We are in immediate need of men and women to serve in Redeemer's children in our Children’s Formation Time on Sundays! No special skills are needed beyond a heart for children and the ability to serve one time per month. Those who serve are given the incredible opportunity to stand as witness of the Gospel to the children of Redeemer, and to learn new things about God both from the lessons we teach each week and the wonderful questions and responses these children offer.

It’s a fun and relationship strengthening opportunity for couples to serve together.

A simple background check and sexual abuse awareness training—both completed online—are required. For more information, please contact our Children’s Formation Director, Karissa Simmons (karissa@redeemerannapolis.org).

Discovery Dinner—Thursday, June 8

If you're newer to Redeemer, or if you’ve just got questions, we will host a Discovery Dinner at the Wishart home Thursday, June 8, 6:30-8:30 PM. Discovery Dinners are casual meals where we share Redeemer’s story, answer questions, and get better acquainted. Nothing to bring. Email Steve+ (steve@redeemerannapolis.org) if you'd like more information or would like to attend.
