Truly Admirable
Truly Admirable
Over the years I’ve come to realize that the most admirable people in my life—both men and women—are simply not “simple”. They’re a fusion of often seemingly contradictory qualities that are simultaneously both true. And that’s much of what makes them admirable.
We see this in the fifth chapter of Revelation, as St. John, in an apocalyptic vision, is taken to heaven’s throne room where Jesus is heralded as a Lion, but what John sees is a Lamb. Seemingly contradictory qualities that are simultaneously both true. Paradox that makes Jesus beautiful, and excellent, and worthy, and truly admirable.
In fact, Jesus is the highest, and deepest, the most excellent and beautiful and admirable person who has ever lived, and because of the resurrection, still lives today. And he’s simply not “simple”. He’s a stunning fusion of infinite, powerful, and seemingly contradictory qualities.
I hope to explore some of these with you Sunday.

New (to us) Song Sunday
“Is He Worthy?” is a beautiful song taken directly from Revelation 5, and Eric will introduce it to us this Sunday. While it’s not a “new” song per se, we’ve not sung it in worship to this point. It will be helpful—especially if you don’t know it—to listen to it here. Even if you are familiar with it, listening will be great preparation for our time together.
