The Shepherd’s Voice

The Shepherd’s Voice

We live in a world that’s absolutely saturated with voices. Everybody’s calling your name. Everybody’s got something to tell you about who you are, what you need, what your life should look like, and what you’re missing out on if you don’t pay attention to them, like, right now. And the cacophony of voices, if you hadn’t noticed, is only getting louder and more insistent.

So, one of the most vital questions you can ask is, how do you know which voice to follow? Because you will follow something. We all do. Every single one of us is being led somewhere. The question isn’t whether you’re being guided—the question is who’s doing the guiding.

And I think that’s exactly the question Jesus is pressing on in this week’s Gospel reading.

I look forward to exploring it with you this Good Shepherd Sunday.
