The God Behind the Gospel—Gentle and Lowly, Part 9

The God Behind the Gospel—Gentle and Lowly, Part 9

This Sunday is The Feast of the Holy Trinity (a.k.a. Trinity Sunday), celebrated in Western churches each year on the Sunday following Pentecost since the early 900s. J. I. Packer wrote of the Trinity, “God is Triune; there are within the Godhead three Persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and the work of salvation is one in which all three act together, the Father purposing redemption, the Son securing it; and the Spirit applying it.”

We’ll be reflecting on chapters 19-21 of Gentle and Lowly, looking at three passages reflecting the heart of God the Father in “purposing redemption”, not from the perspective of the Old Testament, but from St. Paul’s perspective in Ephesians 2:1-5, Galatians 3:10-12, and Romans 5:6-11.

We’ll encounter the invincible work of the God behind the Gospel—rich in mercy, lavish of heart, and steadfast in love—moving ever toward sinners and sufferers like you and me.

See you then.

Part-Time Employment Opportunity

Anna, Redeemer’s part-time Administrator, will be heading to Europe for school in August. There are many reasons we will miss her, not the least of which is the excellent and indispensable administrative support she brings to us. We will, therefore, be hiring and training a new part-time administrator (8 hours per week) as soon as is feasible. If you or someone you know is personable, has an eye for detail and organization, and a desire (and capacity) to take on part-time work, please email steve@redeemerannapolis.org for a job description.

Children’s Formation Volunteers

We are in immediate need of men and women to serve Redeemer's children in our Children’s Formation Time on Sundays! No special skills are needed beyond a heart for children and the ability to serve one time per month. Those who serve are given the incredible opportunity to stand as witness of the Gospel to the children of Redeemer, and to learn new things about God both from the lessons we teach each week and the wonderful questions and responses these children offer.

It’s a fun and relationship strengthening opportunity for couples to serve together.

A simple background check and sexual abuse awareness training—both completed online—are required. For more information, please contact our Children’s Formation Director, Karissa Simmons (karissa@redeemerannapolis.org).

Discovery Dinner—Thursday, June 8

If you're newer to Redeemer, or if you’ve just got questions, we will host a Discovery Dinner at the Wishart home Thursday, June 8, 6:30-8:30 PM. Discovery Dinners are casual meals where we share Redeemer’s story, answer questions, and get better acquainted. Nothing to bring. Email Steve+ (steve@redeemerannapolis.org) if you'd like more information or would like to attend.
