Skeleton Crew, Job Advert, and more

Skeleton Crew

We really need your help.

Last year at this time, we were meeting exclusively online. We were limited to a maximum of ten people together indoors We were, with regard to COVID, living largely in the dark. Because of this, we were forced to work with a skeleton crew on Sundays—the bare minimum of people serving.

We’re obviously not “back to normal”, but a year later, things have changed.

Because we’re meeting regularly together outdoors (and the current skeleton crew working alone is unsustainable), we once again need people to serve in four areas in particular:

  1. Setup and Take Down. This requires an hour or so before our service, and a half hour afterward. Also, the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 35 lbs.

  2. Children’s Formation. It’s our desire not only to restart regular in-person Children’s Formation on Sunday mornings, but to expand our age-group offerings. This requires a heart for children and the ability to serve at least one time per month. Training and a background check are also required.

  3. Readers. Lectionary readings and Prayers of the People.

  4. Hospitality. Greeters and (eventually) Coffee Ambassadors.

You can let us know you’re interested in serving in one of these areas by clicking this link.

Job Opening: Administrator

We’re seeking a part-time Administrator (6-8 hrs/wk).

Redeemer’s Administrator plays a vital role, ensuring relevant records are accurately kept and reported, systems and processes are institutionalized, communications are accurate and professional, and assisting the Rector and Vestry in the day-to-day management of the church. There’s an errand or two to run every week, but the work is primarily from home and the schedule very flexible.

If you or someone you know might be interested, please email JoEllyn Fountain (joellyn@redeemerannapolis.org) for a detailed job description and salary information.

Congratulations, Tim!

Tim Miller, USNA Chaplain and Redeemer member, was Ordained as Priest last Sunday afternoon in the Academy chapel. He, Holly, and their soon-to-be-larger family will head to New Jersey this summer so Tim can complete his ThM at Princeton Seminary...then it’s back to the fleet where he’ll once again serve as Chaplain.

Changes in CDC Guidelines

On April 5th, the CDC changed guidelines regarding the likelihood of Coronavirus spread through contaminated surfaces*, listing the risk as low. For this reason, I plan to discontinue wearing gloves when serving Communion. I will continue to use hand sanitizer before serving, and grain alcohol to sanitize my fingers between individuals or family groups.

*a surface contaminated by a person with an active case of COVID-19

Weather’s looking accommodating Sunday, and I hope to see you.
