Pentecost

Pentecost

This Sunday is Pentecost. The celebration of the Holy Spirit’s descent on the disciples in Jerusalem, his availability to every believer, and the birthday of the church.

And while no orthodox believer would deny his existence, I’m willing to bet there are millions of Christians across America who can’t confidently say they’ve experienced his presence or power in their lives over the past year. And many who don’t believe they can.

But the Holy Spirit is absolutely vital to us today.

Because if the Holy Spirit moves, nothing can stop him. If he doesn’t move, we will never produce genuine fruit—no matter how much effort or money we expend.

The church becomes irrelevant when it becomes purely a human institution. And we’re not all we were created to be when everything in our lives and churches can be explained apart from the work and presence of the Spirit of God.

So, who is the Holy Spirit, and what does he do? That’s what we’ll explore this Sunday at 10:00am.
