Faithful to Every Generation

Faithful to Every Generation

If you were praying for your great-great grandchildren, what would you ask God for?  Think about that. Not your kids. Not your grandkids. Your great-great grandchildren. People you will almost certainly never meet. People who haven’t yet been born. People whose names you don’t know, whose faces you can’t picture, who will live in a world you can barely imagine.

What would you ask God for on their behalf? Health? A good life? Maybe that they’d find meaningful work and people to love?

I’ve never prayed specifically for my great-great grandchildren before, but I’ve been sitting with that question all week and have found myself praying the thing that I suspect many of you would pray too—that they would know God. That they would love Jesus. That the Faith would travel across those generations and find its place in their hearts.

That’s exactly what Ethan the Ezrahite is doing in Psalm 89, and I’m enthused about exploring it together.

See you Sunday.

Are You a Musician? A Note From Eric Hendrix—Hi Redeemer family, Emily and I are so grateful to serve this church community! At times, we’re unable to both be here on a given Sunday or are looking to fill our sound for a particular service. Some folks have blessed us by joining or filling in for us in services past, and we will continue to call on them, but their busy schedules and other factors often make this a significant sacrifice. To ease the load on our supporting musicians, we’re looking to grow the team. I’ve spoken with some of you in the past about this, and I look forward to serving with you in the near future! If I haven’t spoken with you or you haven’t served, please prayerfully consider volunteering to join us on occasion and bless the Redeemer community with your gifting. You can talk to me personally Sunday, or email me here. Thank you!

The Theology of the Declaration of Independence—Part 1

Redeemer member Jeff Trimbath, founder and president of the Maryland Family Institute, hosts an excellent weekly podcast called “Maryland Family Matters”. This week he sits down to talk with Matt Spalding, Dean of the Graduate School of Government at Hillsdale College, to discuss the deeper history of the Declaration of Independence’s self-evident truths, including what makes it an undeniably theological document. It is very much worth a listen and you can find it here.

Hello from Steve Engstrom—Dear Redeemer family, we miss you!  Please stay in touch.  You can always write to me at engstrom.steve@gmail.com.  I've also just started posting at Substack as a convenient way of sharing updates: here's my first post.
