Amendments to Redeemer’s By-Laws

Amendments to Redeemer's By-Laws

As discussed at our July 30, 2023 congregational presentation, the Vestry has approved a proposal to amend our by-laws regarding membership, pending 30 days for congregational comment. Membership at Redeemer has heretofore been somewhat “passive” in the sense that one is considered a Member by meeting certain criteria despite taking  no formal action (no official “act” of joining). For record keeping purposes (and Anglicans are a record-keeping people) this has blurred the line between precisely who is and isn’t a Member. These amendments take a shot at making that line clearer. Our hope is that these changes will also build an ever greater sense of ownership and community among us, though it is our desire and intention to never exclude based on membership status.

You can download a copy of the proposed amendments here. You can download a copy of the By-Laws here.

If you would like to comment, email me at steve@redeemerannapolis.org. Pending comment, these changes will take effect September 16, 2023.

Sincerely in Christ,

Steve+
