The Local Mission Edition

The dream of Redeemer has always been to promote and proclaim the Gospel; giving ever more time, talent, and treasure to seeking the flourishing of our neighbors.

It is clear that all of us have unique ways of responding to this dream particular to who we are and where we are in life. However as a church we have committed to a few ways we can share this dream in visible moments of ministry and witness.

  1. Third Friday Bingo: Friday at 7:00-8:30pm at 10 Hudson St, Annapolis. We are invited to spend time with those who are currently staying at the Light House Homeless Prevention Center, sharing pizza and playing rounds of Bingo. When we give of ourselves in this way encourage this community of people fighting to overcome significant obstacles, that their companionship and friendship matters to us, and as visible members of the Church, matters to God. Email Ian to let us know you’re coming and find out more information.

  2. Second Sunday Sandwiches: This month moved to the third Sunday (this Sunday), and will happen right after worship. We give our time to prepare lunches for those who are in need of them, and in solidarity we will share the same lunch. In so doing we lessen the burdens felt by others who live with significant food insecurity and enable them to focus on those things they need to do for their flourishing.

  3. Called to the Classroom: Sunday, September 8, 10am-1pm. Many members of our community are students or educators, devoting their energies to shape and be shaped by big ideas and new skills. We want to stand with them and support their calling by praying together and celebrating with a cook-out. You can help by bringing a Cornhole set. We will also be sharing a signup for sides and desserts closer to the big day.

  4. Food Bank: Our hosts, the Seventh Day Adventist Church, run a monthly food bank. You can serve by bringing tinned and non-perishable foods. There is a tub in the lobby where these items can be left.

It is my pleasure and privilege to share these opportunities with you all, as they are a reflection of your commitment to the ministry of Redeemer as a force for the public good, as a flourishing community which desires the flourishing of others for the sake of the Kingdom of God.

Ian.
